FSSAI has directed manufacturers of health supplements, nutraceuticals, and foods for special dietary or medical purposes to comply with mandatory labelling requirements for plant and botanical ingredients and their extracts, including declaration of the plant part used and display of prescribed warning statements and cautionary disclaimers. Non-compliance may attract penalties and regulatory action, including suspension or cancellation of licences, under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
