The Government of Gujarat has amended the Gujarat Inland Vessel (Registration, Survey and Operation of Category ‘C’ Inland Vessels) Rules, 2024, to revise vessel definitions, registration and survey requirements, and fitness certification procedures. The amendment mandates prior operational permission from the District Magistrate or Municipal Commissioner, introduces provisions for assessing existing boats lacking ownership or builder certificates, requires bathymetric surveys of inland waters at least once every three years, and revises the registration fee for vessels up to 300 GT to ₹5,000. The rules come into force from the date of publication in the Official Gazette.
