As per provisions of the Bio-Medical Waste Management Rules, 2016, every occupier of health care facility/ institution generating Bio-Medical Waste is required to manage the Bio-Medical Waste in accordance with the various provisions of the Rules for collection, Reception, Storage, Treatment, Transportation and disposal of Bio-Medical Waste. Under the current situation of COVID-19 pandemic and in public interest a temporaryauthorization for 30 days is hereby granted to Superintendent / In charge of any facility treating COVID patients for generation, collection, segregation, storage, treatment and disposal of biomedical wastes as per provisions of the Rules at authorized Common Bio-medical Waste Treatment and Disposal Facility (CBWTF) subject to compliance of the provisions of the Bio-medical Waste Management Rules-2016 and CPCB Guidelines for “Handling, Treatment and Disposal of Waste Generated during Treatment/ Diagnosis/ Quarantine of COVID-19 Patients”.
