Following CPCB directions and as per the Water and Air Acts, 1974 & 1981, the Assam Pollution Control Board publishes the revised list of White Category industries (Annexure-I), which are exempt from CTE and CTO. Any modifications or expansions by such industries require prior Board approval. The Board may take legal action under the Water Act, Air Act, or Environment (Protection) Act, 1986, if any White Category industry is found causing pollution or environmental hazards.
