The Government of Maharashtra has amended the Maharashtra Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2011, to specify that only Class A or Class B beam scales, or Class I or Class II non-automatic weighing instruments with a verification scale interval of 1 mg, shall be used for retail transactions covered under the relevant provisions. The amendment is introduced through the Maharashtra Legal Metrology (Enforcement) (First Amendment) Rules, 2026.
