The Reserve Bank of India, vide press release no.2025-2026/2204, announced the withdrawal of ₹2000 banknotes on 19th May 2023. The total value of ₹2000 banknotes in circulation declined to ₹5,551 crore by 28th Feb 2026. The banknotes remain legal tender. Please refer the press release for more details. (Only for Information)
